Formed in 1996 in Burns Lake, built one job at a time in Northern BC, and grown into one of the region’s largest employers.
The Tahtsa Group started in the early 1980s with a single logging truck and the name Klaus Posselt Logging. Klaus, with his wife Angelika and their family, built the business one job at a time out of the Takysie Lake and Burns Lake area.
In 1996 Tahtsa Timber was formed, and later Pacific Timber, building sawmills to turn timber that was being wasted into a real product and more local jobs. As the forest industry changed, the group kept evolving into road and bridge building, civil works, mining and energy support, and remote camps.
Today the Tahtsa Group runs multiple companies and partnerships across most natural-resource sectors and is one of the largest employers in the region, at times more than 200 people. Through mill closures, downturns and hard fire seasons, the focus has never changed: keep our people working and do right by the communities we call home.

Top 5
Employer in the region
We have stayed in business for over 45 years by being open to change and staying true to who we are. These are the things we will not compromise on.
We keep our crews working through every season, even the hard ones. Our people come before the margins.
We invest our time, our machines and our dollars back into the towns and Nations we live and work alongside.
We do what we said we would do, and we stand behind the work long after the job is finished.
Think Safe! Be Safe! is more than a slogan. It is how we make sure everyone goes home at the end of the day.
We work the land with an eye on the generations who come next, and we respect that stewardship of these Territories lives with the Nations.
Multiple companies and partnerships across many sectors means we can take on whatever the region needs, from a single load to a multi-year contract.
A family at the core, and a wider team that wears a lot of different hats to keep the region working.
