Our story

Working the wild resources of Northern BC for over 45 years

The Tahtsa Group started in the early 1980s with a single logging truck under Klaus Posselt Logging. In 1996 Tahtsa Timber was formed, and later Pacific Timber, building sawmills to turn timber that was being wasted into a real product and more local jobs.

Four decades on, the group runs multiple companies and partnerships across most natural-resource sectors and is one of the largest employers in the region. Through mill closures, downturns and hard fire seasons, the focus has stayed the same: keep our people working and do right by the communities we call home.

Why Tahtsa

People first, every season

We keep crews working through downturns and fire seasons, not just the good years.

45+ Years

Four decades of doing the work ourselves, from one truck to multiple companies and partnerships.

Safety First

Think Safe! Be Safe! BC Forest Safety and SAFE Certified across our operations.

Indigenous Partnerships

Long-term joint ventures with Nations built on shared work and trust.

Diversified & Reliable

Multiple companies and partnerships across most resource sectors means we can take on the whole job.

Rooted in Community

Local hiring, local suppliers, and real support for the places we live and work.

In the community

More than a place to work

We are one of the top employers in the Bulkley-Nechako, and we take that seriously. Over the years the group has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, plus machine time, materials and volunteer hours, to youth, recreation, arts and community development across the region.

From minor hockey to the local food centre, supporting the communities that support us is not a marketing line. It is how we were built.
